Pretend That You’re a Stone

In college, my drama group and I acted out the story of David and Goliath.

For this divergent thinking exercise, do the same thing. But you’re the stone. Imagine that the year is something B.C. and there’s a war going on. A young man picks you up, touches you to make sure you’re smooth, the right shape and size, and then puts you in his pouch.

How do you feel when your chosen? As you land in the pouch? Does it hurt? What do you experience as he begins to walk? As he adds other stones?

What happens when he pulls you out, puts you in his sling and aims you at a sheep? Or a giant? What are you thinking? How do you feel?

Do you aim true? Or do you get scared and go off track?

  1. Good assignment. I’ve had many highschool and even college students do “Bible” or “History First Person (Stone)” assignments w/ great results through the years, very fresh takes on previously familiar stories.

Glad you enjoyed it. It’s fun to come up with new twists on the familiar.
